Do you have a passion for developing awesome product features? Do you love engaging with customers to discuss usability, functionality and performance? Have you been involved in writing specification documents, and have you come up with great feature ideas that provide real end user value? Do you feel you have more potential than others, but that your input is not valued in your current position? Then you might be in for the experience of your (developer-) life!
As a Java Frontend Developer at Atlassian, you will be working in a small team with back-end developers who know the architecture in and out, with product managers and sales staff who have a good feeling for what customers want, and with HTML/CSS/JavaScript experts who will assist with UI details. But no one will tell you what exactly to do: You are part of the team that finds out and gets it done! You will be involved in all the feature planning sessions, drive new innovative ideas, and make calls on ! what is feasible and what is prohibitively expensive to implement. You will see and seize opportunities for quick wins, but also be technically minded to also drive solutions for hard problems. Responsive and compliant applications are what you lust for, and here you can make your dent.
In stark contrast to traditional front-end roles, we do expect you to have a strong entrepreneurial spirit to kickstart your own product ideas too, for example during our famous20% time . We also encourage people to pick up new skills all the time, so additional back-end involvement is just one of the many options you'll have.
What you'll do
- Develop awesome new features front to back
- Engage with product managers, designers, back-end developers, quality analysts
- Love thy customer: attend customer calls and visits, read their JIRA issues and feedback
- Engage with internal users to elic! it feedback for the features you are currently developing !
- Drive innovation by coming up with new and surprising ideas for our products
- Single out existing features that are in need of an overhaul (and get it done)
