Grooveshark is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on our backend/PHP systems. In this position you will be responsible for writing and maintaining backend code that operates at scale, performing code reviews to ensure that code follows standards and is secure. You will work with technologies like Apache, MySQL, nginx, MongoDB, Redis, Gearman and Memcached as well as a few in-house technologies, and occasionally evaluate new technologies to solve novel problems.
This is a pure backend position, which means that while you should know some html, css and javascript, you won't be required to write any. You should, however, have a good understanding of how browsers and web servers work and be able to do enough debugging to determine if a problem is server side or client side.
We are in a dynamic and fast paced environment, but we put emphasis on quality, simplicity and readability; let's face it, writing code is the easy part, reading and mai! ntaining it is the hard part.
