Top Hat Monocle provides software tools to make teaching more interactive and engaging.
You will be working on our flagship classroom interaction software. We are still a small team so you will get the opportunity to wear many hats, or specialize based on your particular interests. Your work will touch tens of thousands of paying customers, and you will get to ship code on a weekly basis (assuming it passes our automated testing suite.)
We have a pretty sophisticated product and some really cool problems to work on:
- real time synchronization between 1000's of difference mobile devices over a flaky network and minimal bandwidth
- scaling our EC2 server cluster by predicting load and responding to demand spikes in real-time
- automated unit and integration testing for reliable continuous deployment
We're looking for developers to work on:
- front-end Javascrip! t, HTML, CSS
- back-end Python and MySQL
- linux system administration and infrastructure tools
The compensation for developers is $60-90k/year + stock options depending on experience and track record. If you're fresh out of school you'd likely be in the $60-70k range, whereas if you've got 2-3 years experience you'd likely be in the $70-90k range. Of course we make exceptions for exceptional developers.
