OTC Markets Group - IT Infrastructure is looking for a UNIX/Linux Team Lead with a significant system engineering experience, ! who will be responsible for our system and network operations. Candidates for this role should have proven leadership and mentoring experiences. The ideal candidate has not only a strong UNIX/Linux technical background, but is also a subject matter expert in at least one UNIX/Linux domain of knowledge. It is necessary the candidate demonstrates superior communication skills and an ability to think through a project from start to finish. Overall, this position will offer the successful candidate a great deal of autonomy as well as responsibility.



The selected candidate will be principally responsible for all day-to-day activities in connection with production systems:



  • Manage 24x7 Operations team and systems

  • Responsible for system monitoring, alerting, and problem resolution

  • Communicates and implements the projected system changes, ensuring the stability of the eco-system and compliance with industry best prac! tices

  • Decrease down time through operational imp! rovements of our tools and processes

  • Ensure baseline standardization for middleware, OS, and hardware

  • Consistently assess and improve system security

  • Oversee and coordinate business applications deployment

  • Implement, document, and manage the Business Continuity Plan

  • Perform capacity analysis, relief sizing, and timing for the growth of our computing platform

  • Collaborate with application development team and business line managers on roadmap, automation, and rollout process improvement across multiple environments

  • Interacts with customers and developers to troubleshoot 3rd level problems

  • Mentor and train UNIX/Linux system administrators

Experience level Requirements:



  • B.S degree or more in Computer Science, Systems and/or appropriate certifications

  • At least one significant managerial experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of UNIX/Linux System administration, UNIX/Linux system engineering, or 3rd level UNIX/Linux support engineer

  • Must have previously worked in a financial environment; knowledge of capital markets is highly desirable

  • Understanding of the operations of an electronic trading venue is a huge plus

  • Strong anal! ytical skills

  • Should not only know the technology, but mu! st be able to articulate such knowledge

  • Must have exposure to the project management role in an enterprise environment



Technical Skills:



  • Advanced understanding of UNIX Operating Systems (Solaris-10 and Linux: a MUST)

  • Advanced knowledge of best practices pertaining to UNIX distributed systems in enterprise-class environments

  • Broad Knowledge of Sun hardware and another major hardware vendors (HP, Dell, etc)

  • Serious knowledge of tools which assist in understanding UNIX systems behavior

  • Knowledge of how to modify kernel and device drivers

  • Knowledge of NIS, NFS, DNS, Automounter, NTP, and SMTP

  • Demonstrated ability with Shell programming

  • Best practices of DevOps movement as well as knowledge of automation tools like Chef or Puppet are a huge plus



A good understanding in the following technolo! gies is a plus:



  • Veritas Cluster or other clustering solution

  • EMC product line and Fiber Channel technology

  • Broad line of Cisco network devices including different models of switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN

  • OLTP database systems

  • F5 or other Global and Local load balancers

  • TIBCO Rendez-Vous

  • FIX protocol

  • VMWare or Xen Virtualization technology
