We’re an open-source shop, and build apps based on what works best, not what contracts or certification dictate. Above all, we value thoughtful solutions to ensure our communication platforms are engaging, usable, and represent one of the nation’s premier universities.
But coding won’t be your only jam. You’ll also play a role in mapping out development strategy. Your work will be varied and interesting, and you’ll have a direct impact on one of the primary touch-points for students, University employees and alumni.
And though we’re looking for a developer, we also like polymaths. We’re a small group, and it’s expected you’ll know how to write valid, semantic HTML and CSS in addition to building the application serving it to users. You should have the ability to define and com! municate a technical vision, often to non-technical folks. We also like a “roll up your sleeves” work attitude.
Primary job responsibilities will include:
- Develop functionality for CMS
- Participate in a team-oriented environment to develop multi-platform (web, mobile, tablet) applications for internal and external use
- Shape web application vision and requirements
- Optimize infrastructure to ensure that the CMS and other applications are fast and reliable
- Maintain well-documented, reusable, and transferable code
- Maintain working knowledge of new development software, trends and practices related to primary responsibilities
- Administer application testing, maintenance and support
- Work in conjunction with the Wake Forest University Information Systems Operations Center to administer web server configurations and! databases
- Balance a variety of concurrent proje! cts while meeting deadlines
- Craft technical specifications and documentation
We love collaboration at Wake Forest University. You’ll work closely with our other web developer and members of the digital team in addition to our designers and wordsmiths.
