ground(ctrl) is looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to lead our growing team and product into higher availability and increased speed. You should be obsessed with speed, with apps installed on your phone to watch CPU load and response time. You should have an analytical mind that thrives on a finding and killing bugs. Tasks you would perform:
- Installation and configuration of all of the above
- Tuning for performance of all of the above
- Setting up monitoring systems to monitor all of the above
- Being on call to resolve issues like:
- Interruption in database replication
- High load events because of DDoS attacks
- High load event! s because of legitimate traffic
- Research and recommend alternative hosting arrangements including colocation and cloud environments
You should be proactive about:
- Watching for when we need to scale our hardware (whether dedicated or cloud) needs
- Propose solutions for handling peaks in traffic, such as when we have popular items going on sale
- Propose solutions for sharding our application for better scaling
- Propose alternative software that may be more performant than software we're using
- Propose areas of investigation for improving the performance of our application based on logs and monitoring
