Currently, we have a career opportunity as a Senior Software Developer (ID 19109) with the University Library.

This position will work in a highly collaborative environment with Library colleagues and external partners on the analysis, design, coding and testing of software in order to explore, adapt, and implement emerging digital repository technologies particularly in the areas of digital preservation, metadata, collections, discovery, and repository services.



This critical role:



  • Designs, develops, implements,! and maintains application code for use in in accordance with the Open Archival Information System reference model for use in support of a Fedora digital object repository. Development includes designing, writing, testing, and debugging code;

  • Collaborates with others inside and outside of the University on software projects facilitating open source contributions. Includes communication with others to determine best areas of focus, requirements gathering, code review, and status updates;

  • Applies system analysis techniques and procedures to determine technical specifications;

  • Defines and implements programmatic interfaces with other systems in support of the repository;

  • Prepare documentation to effect knowledge transfer of application systems and local software development;

  • Ensures established data standards are supported for metadata management, business logic, digital preservation, data modeling and metad! ata workflow management;

  • Other duties as require! d or assigned.
