Job opening - Senior QA Engineer at Meridium (Roanoke, VA)

This position performs complex testing tasks including planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, manual testing, and automated script writing to assure that developed products meet requirements and design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. Working within a delivery team, the Senior QA Engineer communicates with product developers and technical support specialists to identify software defects found in various products. The Senior QA Engineer is also responsible for mentoring QA Engineers I and II and is expected to help drive improvements and efficiencies within QA and the overall Development organization.

Responsibilities:



  • Defines test objectives, creates test plans and develops manual or automated test cases and procedures.

  • Performs complex testing and leadership tasks on complicated projects including planning, scheduling and implementation of testing projects.

  • Executes software applications tests, generates test data and metrics, communicates test status and analyzes results.

  • Acting as the “consumer advocate” on quality issues, researches and develops an understanding of the marketing and/or industry requirements for the product feature being tested, including how the users use the feature and their performance requirements for the features.

  • Participates successfully and influences quality on assigned teams.

  • Manages priorities when assigned to multiple teams.

  • Responsib! le for recognizing, making management aware of, and proposing ! solutions for process problems and defects being overlooked that may be critical to products usability.

  • Helps establish guidelines for testing and for software development.

  • Records defects (using bug tracking software), including documenting information useful in the debugging process, evaluating test data, problem discovery, tracking and resolution.

  • Provides test results to management and customers that are clear and concise.

  • Keeps abreast of evolving QA industry processes and standards.

  • Acts as mentor for QA Engineers.

  • Masters the basics of underlying Meridium technology (databases, windows, IIS, etc.)
