Job opening - Personal Health Platform Software Engineer, Children's Hospital Informatics Prog at Children's Hospital Boston (Boston, MA)

CHIP (Children's Hospital Informatics Program, www.chip.org) and Harvard Medical School has an immediate opening for a developer on the Indivo Personal Health Platform, as Indivo scales for use across health and research settings and moves onto mobile platforms.


 About Indivo:


Indivo www.indivohealth.org is patient-centered health information platform, now part of the www.SMARTPlatforms.org technology suite, designed to enable individuals to own and manage a complete, secure, digital copy of their health and wellness information across sites of care and over time. It is free and open-source, uses open standards, and is actively deployed in diverse settings, in p! articular our own Children’s Hospital Boston. Indivo is built to be extended and customized: users can connect their record to third-party applications that use a common API to enhance the management and analysis of patient health information.


Developer Responsibilities


As a developer at CHIP, you will be involved in all aspects of the development of the Indivo platform: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and deployment, though your focus will be on strong, iterative software development. Additional duties will include working with clinicians and patients, and helping to support and grow our open-source community.


 Qualifications:



  • Be fluent in python (Django experience a plus).

  • Have experience with SQL RDBMS.

  • Be knowledgeable in Apache, Linux, and cross-browser development

  • Be knowledgeable in web development, including familiar! ity with JQuery and Javascript, and notable experience buildin! g and coding against REST APIs (oAuth experience a plus).

  • Write quality code: source control, test-driven development, and an appreciation for the value of strong documentation are all musts.

  • Get excited about writing software that will directly shape the way patients manage their health.
