Job opening - Web Application Developer at Travelpath (Burlington, ON, Canada)

Travelpath is in the process of creating software that will empower travel agencies in Canada to better serve their customers. We are looking to expand our development team with someone who is interested in solving problems and able to bring together many different technologies into one.

We are looking for a web developer who understands enough JavaScript to work with a JSON API, understands some performance issues, but most of all able to write elegant and maintainable code, as well as keep pushing their own knowledge. We mostly use PHP to connect to various data sources which depending on the product spec we're working with, as well as other tasks. That's not to say PHP is the only language you'll see here, but it helps to keep things consistent.

Some cool project's we're working on do things such as:

  • Customer Database, but a bit more complex as it needs to manage two "views" of the same data: corperation c! ustomers, and vacation customers.

  • Data export system, exports all sorts of data to all sorts of supliers in all sorts of formats through all sorts of protocols, we're trying to normalize this and make it modular.

  • Agent Tool, for travel agents. We're building tools that can improve the capacity of any one agent's work load by reducing time spent on mundane tasks that take their time away from making sales.

We're also working on migrating a few websites for ourselves and other travel agencies onto better platforms, some of them might not be built on PHP, others might be legacy code, some might just need some maintenance work.
