
.Net Software Engineer - Web
Full-Time – San Carlos, CA.
Description:
We are looking for a few people to join our new team that will be responsible for the design, development and deployment of the server and client side of all user facing features for our two main EdTech products. This ranges from the development of rich web experiences, to designing and developing APIs, to low level performance optimization. The idea candidates will be creative, full stack engineers who are capable and excited about moving up and down the stack quickly. This team works on all levels of code from database interaction and core business logic up through html/css/javascript.
Current projects include:
Rethinking the gradebook with DataCation
We'v! e developed an online gradebook for teachers, administrators, students and parents that connects and informs them with the data they need. Serving some of the largest school districts in the U.S. gives us the opportunity to tackle some of the most complex problems surrounding non-traditional grading. Our goal is to provide a friendly, yet incredibly flexible application that can support both traditional and outcome-based grading. Additionally, we want to expand our gradebook app to iOS devices.
Redefining the assessment experience with Data Driven Classroom
Teachers have enough to worry about without thinking about how they are going to test their students, collect the results, and dig through the data for meaningful outcomes. Our goal is to make this process as frictionless as possible for teachers while giving them the flexibility to incorporate their own teaching methods and materials. We strive to create an intuitive assessment platf! orm that “just works”. The emphasis is on th! oughtful design, ease of use, and tackling the hard problem of masking complexity.
Requirements
Analytical/creative problem solving skills
Extensive Web application development experience with any of the following: c#, vb.net, ruby, javascript, python, java
Ability to make pragmatic engineering decisions in a short amount of time
Javascript experience
SQL experience
Desirable, but not required
Professional web development experience
Open source contributions
TDD experience
Pair programming experience
Experience scaling web services
Experience building server side APIS for mobile apps
